| JOHN C. COOK John C. Cook is a founding partner of the Fairfax law firm of Cook & Kitts, PLLC, Mr. Cook’s practice emphasizes the representation of executives, employees, and small businesses in employment law matters, including advice and counsel regarding workplace issues; review and negotiation of severance agreements and executive contracts; and litigation arising out of breach of contract, non-competition agreements, Family and Medical Leave Act issues, discrimination claims, and Fair Labor Standards Act (overtime pay) disputes. His practice also includes a wide range of other civil litigation matters. He has lectured frequently and published articles on civil litigation and employment law issues. Mr. Cook received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Gettysburg College, where he was selected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. degree from George Washington University. He is a former chair of the Employment Law Section of the Fairfax County Bar Association and is a member of the New York State and the Virginia bar associations, the Virginia State Bar and The District of Columbia Bar. He is a mediator for the District of Columbia Superior Court and a conciliator for the Fairfax County Circuit Court. Virginia Business magazine named Mr. Cook one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” in its December 2004, 2005, and 2006 editions. Richmond Magazine named him a Virginia “Superlawyer” in 2006 and 2007. | Zachary A. Kitts concentrates his practice in the areas of employment law and qui tam litigation under the federal False Claims Act. On the employment law side of his practice, he represents both employers and employees in the full range of employment related matters. Zach is the author of a highly-regarded practice commentary on the Fair Labor Standards Act (29 U.S.C. §201 et seq.) published as part of the United States Code Service by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and he regularly publishes articles on a wide-variety of topics related to employment law and qui tam/False Claims litigation. Zach is a frequent lecturer to continuing legal education seminars on topics relating to employment, qui tam, and other litigation-related matters. Mr. Kitts is a member of the Board of Governors for the Virginia Trial Lawyer’s Association, and also serves as Chair of the Employment Law Section of the Fairfax County Bar. He received his B.A. degree from George Mason University in 1998 and his J.D. degree from American University’s Washington College of Law in 2001, and is licensed to practice before all of the state and federal courts in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. | |
